Parenting Skills and Workshops

Effective parenting can significantly impact a child's emotional, social, and cognitive development. Our team of experienced therapists offers specialized parenting skills and workshops to help parents develop positive parenting strategies and build strong, healthy relationships with their children.

Through our workshops and one-on-one sessions, you'll learn practical tools and techniques to:

  • Improve communication: Develop open and honest communication with your child, fostering trust and understanding.
  • Set effective boundaries: Establish clear and consistent limits to promote responsible behavior.
  • Manage challenging behaviors: Learn effective strategies to address tantrums, defiance, and other challenging behaviors.
  • Build self-esteem: Encourage your child's self-worth and confidence.
  • Promote emotional intelligence: Teach your child to recognize and manage their emotions.
  • Develop coping skills: Equip your child with tools to handle stress, anxiety, and other challenges.
  • Foster resilience: Help your child build resilience and bounce back from setbacks.
  • Prevent future problems: Learn strategies to prevent potential problems, such as substance abuse or mental health issues.

By investing in your parenting skills, you can create a positive and nurturing environment for your child to thrive. Our holistic approach, combined with our expertise in child development and family therapy, ensures that we tailor our services to meet your unique needs.

Parenting Skills & Workshops — Frequently Asked Questions

Our parenting sessions address the practical and emotional challenges of raising children at different developmental stages — communication, setting boundaries, managing conflict, supporting a child through anxiety or behavioural challenges, co-parenting, and building stronger connection. Sessions draw on evidence-based frameworks and are tailored to what you're actually dealing with rather than a generic curriculum.
We offer both. Individual parenting sessions allow for focused, confidential work on your specific situation. Group workshops create a shared learning environment with other parents navigating similar challenges. Contact us to find out what's currently available.
Either works. Some parents attend together and find it valuable to build a shared approach. Others come individually — whether because their partner isn't available, they're a solo parent, or they're working through co-parenting dynamics after separation. All of these are welcome.
Yes — and it can be particularly effective. When a child is in counselling and a parent is also receiving support, the changes can reinforce each other. Your child's counsellor and your parenting counsellor can coordinate (with appropriate consent) to ensure a consistent approach.
