Remote Video Counselling

Why Choose Remote Video Counselling?

Remote video counselling offers a convenient and effective way to access high-quality mental health support, right from the comfort of your own home. Here's why it's a great option:

  • Convenience: No need to commute or worry about childcare.
  • Accessibility: Access a wider range of experienced therapists and specialists - why settle for a lower quality of care when you can access those with specialized and certified training from the comfort of your home?
  • Flexibility: Schedule appointments that fit your busy lifestyle.
  • Privacy: Enjoy confidential sessions in a private space.

While remote video counselling offers many benefits, it's important to note that some therapeutic modalities may require in-person sessions.

To ensure a successful remote counselling experience, please make sure you have:

  • A reliable internet connection
  • A quiet and private space
  • A device with audio and video capabilities
Many clients pay little or nothing out of pocket — we direct bill Pacific Blue Cross, SunLife, Telus Health / Canada Life, GreenShield, and more. See all insurance & funding options → Direct billing available

Remote Video Counselling — Frequently Asked Questions

Research consistently shows that video counselling produces outcomes comparable to in-person therapy for most conditions, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. The therapeutic relationship — which is the strongest predictor of good outcomes — forms just as readily over video for most clients. A small number of people do prefer the in-person experience, and for some specific modalities in-person may be preferable. You can always try a video session and switch if it doesn't feel right.
We offer secure video sessions to clients anywhere in BC. For clients outside BC, availability depends on your province and whether your insurance provider requires provincial licensing. Our counsellors hold both BCACC (RCC) registration for BC and CCPA (CCC) registration for across Canada — contact us to confirm what applies in your situation.
Yes. We use a PIPEDA-compliant video platform designed specifically for healthcare providers. Sessions are not recorded. You'll need a private space on your end — a room where you won't be overheard — and a reliable internet connection. That's all that's required technically.
Absolutely. Many of our clients use video when it's convenient — working from home, during a busy week, or when travelling — and come in person when they prefer that setting. There's no requirement to commit to one format. Both our North Vancouver and West Vancouver locations are available for in-person sessions.

PIPEDA Statement

All video sessions are subject to the same professional confidentiality standards as in-person sessions under the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) Code of Ethics.
